Antimicrobial Agents

Microbicides are a collecting name for additives fighting against micro organism like bacterium, fungi or algae which differ in the antimicrobial spectrum and effect mechanism: bacteristatics (substances with reversible growth inhibiting); bactericides (bacterium killing substances); antimycotics (fungistatics and fungicides); algicides. The used active agents are fatty alcohol sulphates, alkylaryl sulphonates, quarternary ammonium connections, benzalconium chloride, halogen phenols, halogen salicylic anilides, phenolmercuriacetate a.s.o. The final application decides on the selection of the microbicide.
