Biodegradable
Some plastics out of renewable or fossil raw materials are biodegradable.
That means that all chemical organic elements of these plastics decompose in carbon dioxide – or rather methane, water and biomass by biologically enzymatic activities. This can be done in industrial composting plants according to DIN 54900 / EN13432, in fermentration systems or happen because of natural creation of humus.
Special additives support these degradation processes, accelerate the variation with time and thus represent a control unit. These systems are used in agriculture (rotting mulching films, sowing films etc.) and in waste disposal (garbage bags, food packaging, diaper films etc.)
