Thermoplasts are used to be colored with colorants, i.e. pigments and dyes. As colorants normally are quite dusty and color intensive, they are preferably used in form of concentrates, in masterbatch form, to be added to the plastics.

ColoristikOur colorists check the requested color from the customer against standard patterns. Such standards can contain different types:

  • Color shades according to RAL, Pantone or HKS
  • Color of the final product or granulate samples
  • Colors of the specified standard sample
The color formulation depends on the determination of the suitable pigments. The selection of the pigments depends on the range of requirements, the type of processing and the characteristics of the final application:

  • Thermic stability of the pigments
  • Fastness characteristics (light, weather and migration fastness) of the colorants
  • Food approval of the colorants
  • Further approvals
For the coloring of plastics not only the question of the color is interesting for our customers, but additional characteristics of the pigments are required. These refer to the intensity of the color and the hiding power opacity (opaque, transparent or translucent).
